Reasons to Oppose The Project

  1. Total cost of the Gold Line has ballooned to $6.5 Billion. What a waste of money. For less than $34 Million we could have electric buses that run on the boulevard every 15 minutes and subsidize the fares too.
  2. Four Very Dangerous Street Crossings:

    At Greenwood Ave., Montebello,

At Rosemead Blvd. , Pico Rivera,

    At Norwalk Blvd., Los Nietos,

    At Lambert Road, Whittier.

  3. North / South Travel and Left Turns Will Be Only Allowed At The Above Four Crossings. Left Turns Will Be Blocked and Illegal Everywhere Else.
  4. Businesses Along The Route Were Blindsided By Not Being Told Of Light Rail Train Project Plan For Washington Boulevard.
  5. The Project Places The Light Rail Trains In The Two Center Lanes Of Washington Boulevard.
  6. Constant Rush Hour Congestion.
  7. Trains Will Run Every 5 minutes In Both Directions.
  8. Eminent Domain Will Be Used By Metro To Take At Least 54 Parcels Of Property From Their Owners Along The Route.
  9. Emergency Vehicles Will Be Hampered In Performance Of Their Duties And It Will Cost Lives.
  10. East To West Roadways Will Experience More Traffic. Beverly Blvd., Whittier Blvd., Olympic Blvd., Slauson Ave., And Telegraph Road Will See Increased Traffic To Compensate For Reduced Lanes On Washington Blvd..
  11. Please Sign The Online Petition.
